The Mt. Vernon girls won their final game against Lynden Christian on Saturday. As Ally Kutz is hugged by a friend, the song "We are the Champions" started to play, and she threw her arms in the air.
I don't normally post photos in black and white, but I did today in honor of my friend Amanda Lucier, an amazing photographer and a wonderful person. I made this shot because of her. Literally. I called her mid-way through this game, which happened to be around 9 pm on Valentine's Day, when the D3 I was using started flashing an EE at me and I freaked out. Of course, she calmly helped me fix the camera over the phone. She was recently named the Indiana News Photographer's Association Photographer of the Year, and I couldn't be happier for her. So, a shout-out to Amanda, and all of her inspiring work!!

That is an amazing shot, Katie. Call me ANYTME with D3 questions.
Hi Katie,
I'm Ally's dad - and you did a fantastic job of capturing her joy in beating the Lyncs in basketball for the first time in her high school career.
Thanks!
Bumped your aperture ring off f/22, didn't ya? Heck, I did that today and almost freaked. I'll never get used to seeing that "EE."
BTW, that shot is freakin' sweet!
Katie, You've got a winner here. Nice moment. You're right it does look like an Amanda photo. I think a tighter crop on the woman celebrating would make it a little stronger.
I still remember my first EE message like it was yesterday. Faurot Field, minutes before kickoff, Kit Doyle to the rescue.
